Verlinvest invests in Mutti, the leading Italian packaged tomato brand

PARMA – Mutti, the leading Italian premium packaged tomato brand, is pleased to announce that Verlinvest, an international consumer-focused investment holding company, has invested in the company and holds a 24.5% stake into the company.

Mutti is the leading premium packaged tomato brand in Italy with approximately 31% market share and has successfully expanded outside of Italy in recent years, generating approximately 30% of its sales abroad. The company now enjoys leading market positions in a number of countries, including France, Scandinavia, and Australia, and will use funds to strengthen its international team, increase brand awareness, develop new tomato-based products, and increase production capacity in Italy.

Verlinvest, thanks to its global network and experience as a longstanding investor in the branded consumer sector across Europe, the US and Asia, can act as a catalyst for the international expansion of the Mutti brand. Both partners will seek to bring innovation and premiumisation to the much standardised tomato category, leveraging Mutti’s core values of quality, taste, and Italian tradition.

Thanks to Verlinvest’s own family heritage, Mutti will strive to protect and nurture the unique Parmesan culture of the company as Mutti grows in size and develops across international markets.
